Chris Knutson is a sustainability expert who leads Green Plains’ sustainability and carbon initiatives, driving key achievements as it transforms into a leading biorefining company focused on producing sustainable, low-carbon biofuel and value-added ingredients. Mr. Knutson also leads the Company’s government affairs function and has over 10 years of industry experience, ranging from agribusiness and technology to risk management and insurance.
Mr. Knutson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and holds numerous professional designations and certifications. He is an active member of the CPCU Society – Omaha Chapter and an Omaha native. A city kid from a farm family, he has fond childhood memories spending time on his uncle’s central-Nebraska farm. From feeding chickens to maintaining irrigation systems, he was exposed to the importance of sustainable agriculture at a young age.
